Nazism

Felix Nussbaum Haus. Osnabrück, Alemania. Mi novia es alemana y cada día tengo más contacto con la cultura de ella. En el colegio en Costa Rica, tenía un compañero de mamá alemana y toda la vida lo pasábamos jodiendo con Hitler y el Anticristo. Sin embargo, mi percepción es que adentro de Alemania el nazismo, Hitler, etc., son temas de mucho cuidado, con los que no se bromea (totalmente a como lo vivimos del otro lado del charco… donde por la guerra no murió nadie). Hoy en día mi percepción es que los alemanes no son más ni menos racistas que otros países de Europa, pero la guerra, de alguna manera, sigue presente de forma silenciosa.

Felix Nussbaum Haus. Osnabrück, Germany. My girlfriend is German and every day, I have closer contact with her culture. In high school in Costa Rica, I had a classmate whose mother and me and my classmates would spent countless hours mocking and teasing him with Hitler, the Antichrist. However, I see that within Germany, Hitler and such, are subjects which are dealt with great care , you are not supposed to make any jokes about them (completely different from what we live in Central America, where no Costa Ricans died because of the war). Today I sense that Germans are not more nor less racist than any other country in Europe, but the war, somehow, is still present in a silent way.
